LA MARINA AWARDED SPAIN'S FIRST INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE FOR COVID-19

Ahead of welcoming shoppers and retailers back on the 1 June 2020 La Marina Shopping Centre and Retail Park, located in the heart of Finestrat, Alicante has today been certified as a COVID-19 compliant destination – the first Shopping Centre and Retail Park in Spain.

This accreditation confirms that the Centre and Retail Park are in compliance with international best practice, industry organisations and councils, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Throughout the period of closure, La Marina Shopping Centre and Retail Park have been implementing health and safety-focused measures ahead of their long-awaiting full reopening this Monday. The Shopping Centre and Retail Park, which is managed by BNP Paribas Real Estate, have been working closely with their Marketing Agency, Why Media, to integrate clear safety measures throughout. These include branded floor vinyl’s reminding visitors of the social distancing rules, the installation of hand sanitizer stations, increased cleaning regime, additional cleaning products and a complete deep clean of all communal areas. 

As part of the Shopping Centre and Retail Park’s objective to reinstall trust with both their retailers and visitors, they approached Scandinavian company SSC to undertake a full audit and review of the measures put in place. Following their inspection, SSC awarded La Marina Shopping Centre and Retail Park with a certificate confirming that both the Centre and Retail Park are COVID-19 compliant.

Florentino Fernández, Centre Manager comments: “We are incredibly proud of our team who have worked very hard during the lockdown period to prepare the Shopping Centre and Retail Park for their reopening as we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s been an incredibly busy few months, but every team member has put their strength and enthusiasm into getting this accreditation - we’re even more proud knowing that we are the first Shopping Centre and Retail Park in Spain to be awarded such certification. We are approaching the high season, and we hope to welcome thousands of visitors through our doors between June and September and thanks to the new measures and our certificate, visitors can visit the Shopping Centre and Retail Park without worry.

La Marina Shopping Centre and Retail Park will open their doors from 10 am on Monday 1st of June and invite the local community to join us and enjoy some much needed retail therapy after almost three months closed.
