MORE THAN 600 PLAYERS WILL COMPETE IN THE FINESTRAT VOLA BOLA VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT.

More than 600 players from all over Spain will compete in one of the most important youth tournaments in Spanish Volleyball.

On the 15th and 16th of April the Volabola Spain Cup will take place in the municipal pavilion of Finestrat. Where more than 80 teams are registered, more than 2000 people from all over Spain are expected to come to the town of Finestrat, coinciding with the tourist season of Easter.

The organisation will be carried out by the Finestrat Volleyball Club together with the Elche Volleyball Club and the sports council of the Finestrat town hall who will provide 11 fields: 3 volleyball courts in the sports centre for the categories from 8 to 20 years old.

Among its main sponsors are the volleyball clothing shop VolaBola, which gives its name to the tournament, and the La Marina Shopping Centre, which after the sports sponsorship agreement signed in October 2021, all the club's teams wear the CVF shirt with the logo of the CC La Marina and gives its name to the junior regional team, which is in the big league this season.

The tournament has already confirmed teams from the Valencian Community, Andalucía, Murcia, Castilla la Mancha and the Community of Madrid. This week the total number of teams will be finalised, which is estimated to reach 80.

This sporting and tourist event was presented by the Mayor Juanfran Pérez Llorca, the Sports Councillor, David Alarcón, the technical coordinator of the Finestrat Volleyball Club, the manager of Vola Bola, David Agulló and the president of the local club, Rebeca Fernández.

In the words of Mayor Juanfran Pérez Llorca "this popular tournament is our way of thanking all the local athletes and especially the volleyball players for their work, enthusiasm and the hours they dedicate to this sport so deeply rooted in Finestrat". With regard to tourism promotion, the mayor announced that "we have designed a 15-day Easter Week with events that will increase visits to Finestrat as this volleyball tournament that will attract about 2,000 people and also the Mercat Gastronòmic i Tradicional that brings together about 5,000 people. It is a way of helping the tourism business to recover after the pandemic". Finally, he highlighted the amateur nature of these events "which are very much in line with our commitment to family tourism and healthy habits, especially among young people".

The Councillor for Sports, David Alarcón, expressed his satisfaction "because Finestrat will host a very important tournament for junior volleyball, which will give us the opportunity to see the best teams in these categories in our town. At the same time we are once again promoting the combination of sport and tourism as we will encourage many people from all over Spain to visit our town”

For his part, the coordinator of the Finestrat Volleyball Club, Juanvi Llinares said that "it is the 1st edition of the Vola Bola Tournament but is born very consolidated, with a brand of international projection that already bet on Finestrat in the Summer Tournament of beach volleyball". The progression of the volleyball team has been spectacular in the last year going from 60 players to 200. "We want to continue that line and a tournament of this nature promotes it for its popular character and coexistence". Llinares praised the sports facilities "very appropriate for this type of tournament. And because it is a safe area to host such a large number of children”. As for the date, 15 April, which is "Viernes Santo" and Saturday 16: "it is the only date on which there is no competition in Spain. And just as the 15th of August was consolidated in La Cala with the oldest beach volleyball tournament in Spain, we hope that the Vola Bola Tournament will be consolidated"
